Banyan trees on a British-Era Chimney at Central Warehouse Corporation (CWC)

These clicks are taken by Shri @Vijaykulange #DM_GANJAM Today at #Central_Warehouse_Corporation, Brahmapur
Where banyan trees are coming out from this British-Era Chimney.
{👉👉👉👉 {REMINDER} The #CWC after phailin cyclone in 2013 has promised not to make any more efforts to demolish this old chimney and planned to renovate it and use it as a landmark for the #CWC, BRAHMAPUR. However 7 years have passed during this period but the #CWC couldn't fulfill its promise.}

This is a tall Brick built Chimney of the British Era on the campus of the Central Warehouse Corporation (CWC) in Brahmapur city and has withstood the super cyclone of 1999 & the Phailin and HudHud and Titli cyclones proving that at times ‘old can also be strong’.
The cyclones have also not been able to put any mark of damage on this century old chimney. At present a large banyan tree has grown at the top of this chimney. Although roots of the tree have reached the ground through the chimney, they have also not been able to bring in cracks on its stone wall.
HISTORY :-
Before the Central Warehouse Corporation (CWC) took up this patch of land to establish its largest depot in Odisha, it had a rice mill during British-era. This chimney happens to be the only remnant of that rice mill.
Several times in the past, the CWC authorities had tried to demolish this brick made chimney but they were not successful in their effort.
It has been made by small sized strong bricks which were joined by traditional joining materials rather than cement. Moreover, metal rings had been provided around the chimney at several places to make it stronger.
These factors have till now saved this chimney from vagaries of nature as well as human efforts to break it down.
The CWC in 2013 after philine cyclone has promised not to make any more efforts to demolish this old chimney and will renovate it and use it as a landmark for the CWC depot in Brahmapur.
As it can be seen from quite a distance, the CWC also planed to put up its signboard above the chimney after its renovation. However 7 years passed during this period but the #CWC couldn't fulfill its promise.

Industrial Training Institute (ITI), BRAHMAPUR has come up with #Protective_Devices for the frontline #Medical_Professionals

Industrial Training Institute (ITI), BRAHMAPUR has come up with #Protective_Devices for the frontline #Medical_Professionals fighting the deadly COVID-19 pandemic by developing an aerosol box for incubation process. 👍👍
Besides the aerosol box, the institute has also developed face shield for the medical professionals treating COVID-19 patients.
Named as 'ITI-Face Shield', this protective gear has been developed using foam lining and elastic band.
The aerosol box consists of a transparent plastic cube designed to cover a patient's head, which has two circular paths through which the medical professionals hands can enter to perform airway procedure.
A team of ITI-Berhampur experts led by Principal Mr. Panigrahy has planned, designed, and developed the aerosol box.
Necessary laser-cutting, drilling and fitting were done after taking feedback from senior doctors of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, he said.
The box was prepared from 4-mm transparent acrylic sheets.
Ganjam district administration had given suggestion for development of the aerosol boxes to protect the medical professionals who get directly exposed to the virus.
Commending the job done by the institute, a senior official said the newly developed protective equipment will be examined by health and medical professionals and appropriate steps will be taken.
The cost of development of a box is around Rs 3000, he added.
Earlier the ITI has developed sanitized cloth masks and hand sanitizer in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Berhampur for frontline COVID-19 warriors.
