In
a bid to ease traffic problem in the town, Berhampur Development Authority
(BDA) has proposed construction of a ring road, a bypass and an internal bypass
in different locations. The decision was taken at the development authority
meeting held here on Friday. The proposed 52-km ring road will cover
Ragunathpur, Ratanapur, Digapahandi Road, Chikiti Road, Haladiapadar, National
Highway 5, Korapalli, University Road, Golabandh Gate and Ragunathpur.
Similarly 13-km bypass will be from Alakapur to Ratanpur and the internal
bypass road will connect First Gate and Jagannathpur. The cost of the projects
will be estimated after preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs), said
chairman of the development authority Kailash Rana. "When these road
projects will be completed, traffic congestion in the town will be
solved," he said. The urban body has also approved construction of three
bus stands at Haladiapadar, on the outskirts of the town, Chhatrapur and
Gopalpur. It has also decided to construct over 120 houses under different
categories at Bibeka Bihar, Rana informed.
