The TATA Lifeline Express, better known as the ‘Hospital on Wheels’ will reach Ganjam District for a second time. With a view to extending better healthcare facilities to the people living in rural and inaccessible areas, Tata Steel will host the Lifeline Express, the world’s first Hospital on-wheels, for the second time in Ganjam district and for the seventh time in Odisha from 17April to 11May 2013. The initiative is aimed at providing free surgical interventions in areas of post-polio deformities, hearing disorders and dental and eye-related problems of people.
The
treatment and necessary surgeries, medicines, accommodation, hearing aids,
calipers, tricycles and wheel chairs will be provided free of cost to the
patients. The Company has been a major collaborator with Impact India
Foundation for the Lifeline Express. People living in the farthest corners of
Ganjam district and parts of Gajapati and Kandhamal districts are likely to be
benefited from this initiative. The Lifeline Express, better known as the
‘Hospital on Wheels’, has come to the
aid of more than 24,000 differently-abled persons in Odisha who have benefitted
from this initiative of the steel major. Tata Steel has so far hosted the
Lifeline Express six times in Odisha at different locations like Gopalpur,
Bamnipal, Joda, Jajpur Keonjhar Road (twice) and Meramundali. Lifeline Express,
one of the major innovations in the history of healthcare in India, is equipped
with a modern operation theatre, which offers diagnostic, medical and surgical
treatment for prevention and curative interventions for the differently abled.
