This was informed by the Higher Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra in the assembly on Wednesday. The Minister informed the Assembly that the state government is taking steps to give Unitary University status to three premier autonomous colleges in the state. They are Khallikote College, Berhampur, Gangadhar Meher College, Sambalpur, Rama Devi Women's College, Bhubaneswar, informed the Minister.  Replying to a debate, the minister said three colleges are being considered for the status in the first phase and subsequently more would be added to the list. Patro said the department had asked principals of three colleges to submit detailed status of their respective institutes. He said 50 acres of land would be soon transferred to the Khallikote College to make it eligibility for the status.
