The Ganjam Bar Association (GBA) has decided to
intensify its continuing agitation for demand of establishment of a permanent
bench of Odisha High Court in the city for the benefit of people of south
Odisha.
On Saturday lawyers of the GBA sat on dharna near
the statue of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das in front of the GBA hall for this
demand. It may be note that the members of the GBA continue to boycott court on
last four days of every month demanding establishment of High Court bench.
The lawyers who sat on dharna included the president
of the GBA Kapileswar Patnaik, former secretary of the GBA Manoj Patnaik, frmer
second secretary of the association Ram Prasad Panda. The agitating lawyers
criticised the State government for delaying decision regarding the issue.
The president of the GBA Mr Kapileswar said in
coming days members of the association would decide upon future course of
action to intensify the continuing peaceful agitation for the demand for High
Court bench. “We would contact all bar associations of south Odisha for the
purpose,” he added. Since more than a decade GBA is continuing to press upon
this demand. The Hindu
