The Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Berhampur has invented an Ultra Violet (UV) Sanitizer designed for powerful disinfection of shoe soles.
Chairman Odisha Skill Development Authority, Mr. Subroto Bagchi launched it in Berhampur through webinar.
It produces adequate energy to damage and alter DNA of all kinds of potentially harmful microorganisms on the bottoms of shoes.
“This is unique in the country and can be used at home entrances or public places like hospitals, offices, airports, railway stations, shopping malls, hotels and institutes etc”, said Principal ITI, Dr. Rajat Kumar Panigrahy.
The user has to stand on the device and the sanitisation process is completed within 8 seconds.
These UV light emits rays upward and eradicates the micro organisms deposited on the exterior surface.
The mechanism is enabled through IR sensors. The UVC light is triggered only when both the soles are on the platform.
The sanitizer includes a portable platform. This is an integration of skill in sheet metal, filling, fitting, electrical and electronics, the principal said.
The first machine was donated to COVID Hospital Behrampur. Associate Professor Medicine MKCG Medical College and Hospital cum In-charge COVID Hospital Berhampur, Dr. Umashankar Mishra, received it.
